The Bloomfield Development Corporation has been working with the Mayor’s Office and has installed six new bike racks, with more to come. And the post office has responded to our request to either clean up or replace the graffiti-riddled mailboxes. After doing so, one was overlooked on the corner of Liberty and Pearl, but with one phone call it was replaced the next day! Thanks to both the Mayor’s Office and the Post Office for helping us beautify Bloomfield!

Last week, Councilman Bill Peduto introduced legislation that will allow restaurants, grocery stores, cafés, or delis to cook outside on the sidewalk. This will allow businesses in Bloomfield like Donatelli’s to continue a tradition of outdoor cooking, and hopefully encourage more businesses to come out as well.

On the morning of July 10, twenty-eight Bloomfield Development Corporation volunteers picked up litter, cigarette butts and other trash along Liberty Avenue’s Main Street. Along with Bloomfield Landscaping volunteers, they also planted greenery and cleaned and weeded the tree beds. We realize that there are a lot of other things these volunteers could be doing on a beautiful Saturday morning, but we couldn’t do these cleanups without your help.
