A big THANKS to everyone for making the tenth anniversary of Little Italy Days successful!
- The volunteers who organized and set up the bocce tournament. The festival wouldn’t be successful without you!
- The Bloomfield Development Corporation staff and volunteers who spent many hours promoting and organizing the event and manning the information booth
- The volunteers from Academy System, Garfield & Hill District CISP and Most Wanted Fine Arts who cleaned the streets on Saturday and Sunday morning
- The volunteers who helped direct traffic and emergency vehicles and ran for supplies when needed
- The volunteers who turned beer barrels into Italian trash cans

- The local residents who endure traffic inconveniences so this event can take place

This event shows how many people working together can generate such a positive outcome. I couldn’t be more proud of Bloomfield and its people.

A group of Bloomfield residents are scheduling another impromptu neighborhood cleanup for this Sunday, October 2. We will be meeting in front of Humble Beginnings Art Gallery, 4121 Main Street at 11 a.m., and going to brunch at Brillobox afterward.
If you know of anyone who is interested, feel free to pass along this information. We had a pretty good turnout at the last cleanup, and are hoping for even more volunteers this time around!

The BDC is asking for volunteers to help “redd up” Liberty Avenue on Sunday, September 18. We are getting ready for Little Italy Days on September 23, 24 and 25!

As part of developing an Institutional Master Plan for the UPMC Shadyside campus, two additional community meetings will be facilitated to engage interested parties in the process. At the next community meeting being held on September 15, the presentation and discussion will focus on options that have been developed for the Shadyside Hospital campus. UPMC hopes to receive further input from the community to move toward the eventual master plan direction.
The October 4 community meeting will focus on the Shadyside Hospital campus direction, created from input from a variety of sources, in order to obtain further refinement, build community understanding, and general consensus for the Shadyside Hospital campus.
