Going Italian

Posted by Alexis Foster on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 11:17 AM

William Loeffler  of the Tribune Review outlined the perfect “Pittsburgh-style” Italian day-date in his article “Go Italian in the ‘Burgh for a great date”.

The day begings with a visit to Lawrenceville’s Espresso A Mano, next a stop at Sunseri Brothers in the Strip, then experience the daily lives of early 20th century Italian immigrants at the Heinz History Center, followed by a tour of the Italian Room at Pitt’s Cathedral of Learning. Last on the historic list is Schenely Park’s statue of Christopher Columbus, created by Frank Vittor, a native of Mozzato, Italy.

Finally, last but not least is a stop in “the Italian stronghold of Bloomfield” for the Italian-American fare at newcomer Stagioni. This Italian-themed date can come to a delicious close with what owner Cara DelSignore described as “seasonal cooking with Italian-inspired dishes.”
