Lighting Meeting

Posted by Dana on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 12:50 PM

Dear Bloomfield Neighbors and Business Owners:

You are invited to join the newly established Lighting Committee. The purpose of this committee is threefold:

  1. Determine the best street lighting option for the Bloomfield business corridor on Liberty Avenue.
  2. Determine the best strategy for holiday lights and explore models of other neighborhoods and business districts.
  3. Determine funding options for short- and long-term sustainability. Develop a budget with projected fundraising revenue and costs (electricity, installation, maintenance, permits, etc.).

Explore ideas about how lighting can increase bottom line of businesses: ex. make it into a holiday event, drive customers to the business district, have stores stay open later, plan for promotion events around the lighting at holidays and all year long. Lighting always goes along with safety. Shoppers want safe, well lit-streets, so we can promote a “safe, walkable business district”.

If you are interested in creating a more viable, dynamic Bloomfield business district we look forward to hearing your ideas!

Please email Dana at dacton127@hotmail.com with your name, address, telephone number and email address. Most correspondence on this committee will be through email. Our first meeting will be at Grasso Roberto Café, 4709 Liberty Avenue at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29. Looking forward to some fantastic, progressive ideas from all of you!
