FARMERS MARKET TO START ON JUNE 28, 2007
June 28 will be the first evening of the 2007 Farmers Market. The market will be from 3:00 to 7:00 on Thursdays through Thanksgiving. The market will be located in the parking lot of the Immaculate Conception Church next to the Public Parking Authority.
The Bloomfield Business Association has been working with the city for a long time to bring a Farmers Market to Bloomfield. The idea was initiated by Fr. John Dinello, Pastor of Immaculate Conception-St. Joseph’s Parish. It’s an ideal community due to the high population of senior citizens where many residents can walk. It’s also a great place for our restaurants to be able to buy produce for the week-end business.
The BBA appreciates the efforts of the City and it’s support of the Bloomfield Community.

Gee, I didn’t realize Fr. Dinello initiated the farmers market project. I could have sworn that was my initiative with City Parks.
Either way, I’m glad it’s happening and hope it brings traffic and business to the district.
Please sign me up for all upcoming Bloomfield events, etc…thank you.

Gee, I didn’t realize Randy Strothman was such a freaking whiner.
Yes, it was a little whiney and shouldn’t have been.
I would like to credit also an excellent public servant for helping to make this happen: Eric Van. An employee of City Parks, Eric has been a proactive supporter of farmers markets for as long as I have known him. That includes the one I enjoy on the Northside–the one that inspired me to approach him last summer about bringing one to Bloomfield. To me he is an excellent communicator and public servant.
May the Bloomfield market become a great asset for the residents and businesses of Bloomfield.
I’m a new resident of Bloomfield (new to Pittsburgh entirely, actually) and I LOVE the farmer’s market. It’s a great idea, and a wonderful amenity for residents. When can we expect it to return in the Spring? I’ll be marking my calendar…
